How to Install the Die Set
- Screw the M8 upper setting die into the threaded section at the top of the KAM DK93 Hand Press.
- Place the 19mm lower die shank into the base of the hand press.
- Check that both dies are securely positioned and aligned before setting your rivet.
Once installed, position the prepared Double Cap Rivet between the matching upper and lower dies and lower the press handle to set the rivet.
Preparing the Rivet Hole
The hole should be sized to suit the rivet post rather than the 10mm cap diameter. For most bag making materials, a 2mm hole is the perfect size to start with.
A hole that is unnecessarily large can allow movement around the rivet, while a hole that is too small can make installation difficult or distort the surrounding material. Always test your combination on an offcut first.

Choosing the correct post length is just as important as choosing the correct setting die.
Your rivet post needs enough length to pass through all of the project layers and connect with the second cap, without leaving excessive post length that can make the rivet difficult to set neatly.
When using rivets around straps, handles and hardware attachment points, make sure the surrounding materials are suitably reinforced so the rivet is supported by the structure of the project.
