Description
2mm Hole Punch Tool for Bag Making
The 2mm Hole Punch Tool is a simple and affordable way to create clean holes for double cap rivets and other small bag hardware.
Unlike a hand press, this individual punch is not restricted by the distance between the edge of your material and the throat of the machine. Simply position the punch wherever the hole is required, making it useful for bag panels, straps, tabs and projects that are already partly constructed.
It is also a practical option for bag makers who only need to cut a few holes and are not ready to invest in a larger hole cutting set or KAM hand press system.

How to Use the 2mm Hole Punch Tool
- Mark the position where the hole is required.
- Place a punching plate underneath the material to protect your work surface and the cutting edge of the tool.
- Position the cutting end of the punch directly over the mark.
- Hold the tool upright and strike the top firmly with a suitable hammer or nylon mallet.
- Check that the punch has cut completely through the material before lifting it away.
A firm, stable work surface will help produce the best result.
Helpful Tip from Chris
When punching a hole in a bag that is already partly constructed or completed, slip a small punching plate between the layers. This helps protect the layer underneath and allows you to cut through only the section where the hardware will be installed.
Always test your chosen hole size with the actual rivet or hardware before punching your finished project. The hole should be large enough for the post to pass through without stretching the material, but not so large that the hardware feels loose.
Complete Your Hole Cutting Setup
Pair the 2mm Hole Punch Tool with:
- A compact dual face hammer for controlled striking
- A nylon mallet or hammer
- A plastic punching plate to protect your bench and cutting tools
- The 26 Piece Hole Cutting Punch Set when you need a wider selection of hole sizes and shapes
- The Screw Hole Punch Tool for reaching difficult areas and punching holes without using a hammer
The 2mm Hole Punch Tool is an excellent starting point when you only need to install a few double cap rivets. As your bag making toolkit grows, the larger hole cutting set and Screw Hole Punch Tool offer even more flexibility.
