Adjustable Strap Sliders 25mm Rose Gold for Bag Straps
This Rose Gold slider has a 25mm (1″) inside opening width to fit a strap finished to 25mm wide. It lets you shorten or lengthen a crossbody or shoulder strap. Use it when making a new strap or replacing hardware on an existing project.
Moving Centre Bar and Larger Opening
The centre bar moves within the outer frame, giving you room to thread the strap and adjust its length. The larger slide opening is helpful for thicker materials such as vinyl faux leather, cork and leather, particularly when making double-folded straps.
The standard Strap Slider 25mm Rose Gold has a fixed centre bar and a flatter profile. Choose the style that suits your finished strap thickness and construction. Both styles need a strap that threads comfortably and holds its position when adjusted.
Choose Your Strap Material
Use 25mm webbing, or make a strap from fabric, vinyl faux leather, cork or leather. Check the finished 25mm width and test the full thickness before sewing the ends. Thick seams or joined webbing can make adjustment difficult even when the main strap fits.
How to Thread a Detachable Adjustable Strap
- Pass one strap end through one opening, around the centre bar and out through the other opening. Fold that short end back and secure it to the strap, forming a loop around the centre bar.
- Pass the free long end through the strap loop of the first Swivel Clip.
- Bring the long end back through both slider openings, passing it over the centre bar and the strap already attached there. Keep the strap flat.
- Thread the remaining end through the second Swivel Clip’s strap loop, fold it back and secure it using the overlap and fastening method specified by your pattern.
- Move the slider to test the full adjustment range and check that the strap holds its position.
Follow your pattern if it uses a different strap arrangement. Secure the ends with stitching or correctly sized Double Cap Rivets suited to your materials and layers.
Helpful Tip from Chris
Test the threading with a scrap of your completed strap material first. Include the same folded layers and interfacing as your project so you can check both movement and grip before cutting the full strap.
