When trying a new wadding or interfacing, I always recommend testing it on a scrap of the same fabric you’re using for your project first. This lets you see how the fabric feels and behaves before committing to your finished project.
When sewing quilting weight fabric with wadding, I generally start with a stitch length of around 3 and a size 90/14 needle, such as the Schmetz Microtex Sewing Machine Needles Size 90/14. My favourite thread for this type of sewing is Threadsation™ Bag Makers Sewing Thread.
Your ideal needle and stitch length can vary depending on your fabric, thread and number of layers, so a quick test sample is always worthwhile.
