Description
Decovil Light
Decovil Light is a lightweight fusible non woven interfacing / stabiliser with a leather like feel that adds body, structure and support without unnecessary bulk.
It is a favourite for bag makers who want more structure than a standard woven interfacing, while still keeping their project flexible and easy to work with.
Why Bag Makers Love Decovil Light
Decovil Light can transform regular quilting cotton into something that feels more like canvas, making it a great option when you want a more structured result without changing the fabric on the outside of your project.
It also works beautifully with vinyl faux leather and lightweight leather, adding support and helping your bags, wallets and pouches hold their shape.
- Adds structure without excessive bulk
- Helps cotton fabrics feel more substantial
- Supports vinyl faux leather and lightweight leather
- Great for bags, wallets, pouches and organisers
- Tear resistant and dimensionally stable
- Washable and dry cleanable
Decovil Heavy vs Decovil Light
Choosing between Decovil Heavy and Decovil Light depends on how structured you want your finished project to be.
- Decovil Heavy is best for firm structure, making it ideal for bag bases, structured bags and projects that need to stand on their own.
- Decovil Light is better for everyday structure where flexibility is still important.
Perfect for Bag Making Projects
Decovil Light is especially useful when you want a clean, structured finish in projects that still need some flexibility.
Use it for:
- Handbags and tote bags
- Crossbody bags and backpacks
- Wallets and purses
- Pouches and organisers
- Bag bases, flaps and feature panels
How It Feels
One of the reasons Decovil Light is so popular is its leather like feel. Once fused, it gives fabric a more substantial hand and helps your finished project feel stronger, more stable and more professional.
If you love making bags with good structure but do not want them to feel hard or heavy, Decovil Light is a beautiful option to have on hand.
How To Fuse
- Place the interfacing with the coated side on the wrong side of the fabric.
- Cover with a damp cloth and press carefully for about 6 seconds, step by step across each area.
- Allow the pieces to cool flat for approximately 30 minutes so the adhesive can properly set and reduce lifting.
