Description
Style-Vil Fix Single Sided Fusible Bag Foam Stabiliser 72cm Wide
Vlieseline Style-Vil Fix combines soft padded bag foam with a single sided fusible surface, giving bag makers structure, stability and cushioning with the convenience of bonding the foam directly to fabric before sewing.
Once fused to the wrong side of your fabric, Style-Vil Fix stays securely positioned while you construct your project. This can make bag preparation and sewing easier because there is less need to baste or pin the foam in place, while the finished project remains softly structured and flexible rather than rigid.
Why Bag Makers Love Style-Vil Fix
- Single sided fusible surface bonds the foam directly to fabric.
- Adds soft padded structure, shape and stability to handmade bags.
- Helps keep fabric and foam securely positioned while sewing.
- Creates professional-looking structure without making the finished bag rigid.
- Flexible and comfortable to sew through with most domestic sewing machines.
- Useful for bag panels, bases and padded projects where you want extra body and cushioning.
Perfect for Bag Making
Style-Vil Fix fusible bag foam stabiliser is ideal for projects including:
- Handbags and totes.
- Backpacks and travel bags.
- Laptop and tablet sleeves.
- Cosmetic bags and zipper pouches.
- Organisers and padded accessories.
- Bag bases and structured panels.
How to Apply Style-Vil Fix
- Place the fusible side of Style-Vil Fix against the wrong side of your fabric.
- Cover with a damp pressing cloth.
- Press section by section with the iron for approximately 12 seconds per area.
- Lift and reposition the iron rather than sliding it across the fabric so the layers stay correctly positioned.
- After fusing, lay the pieces flat and allow them to cool for approximately 30 minutes so the adhesive bond has time to stabilise before sewing.
Always test the fusing process on a scrap of your project fabric first, particularly when working with fabrics that may be sensitive to heat.
Helpful Tip from Chris
When fusing Style-Vil Fix, press and hold the iron in position rather than sliding it across the fabric. Moving the iron can shift the layers before the adhesive has bonded properly.
Just as importantly, give the fused pieces time to cool completely while lying flat. Think of fusible adhesive a little like wet glue — while it is still warm, the bond is continuing to stabilise. Allowing around 30 minutes before moving on to construction helps give the adhesive time to set securely.
Style-Vil Fix or Style-Vil Sew In?
Both products create soft padded structure for bag making, but the way they are applied is different.
- Style-Vil Fix: Single sided fusible foam that bonds directly to fabric with heat before sewing.
- Style-Vil: Non fusible sew in bag foam that is secured into the project during construction.
If you prefer the convenience of bonding the foam to your fabric before sewing, Style-Vil Fix is the fusible option. If your project fabric cannot be fused or you simply prefer working with sew in foam, Style-Vil Sew In Bag Foam is a great alternative.
