Description
Sure Fuse Firm Cotton Woven Fusible Interfacing 150gsm 3 Metre Pack
This convenient 3 metre pre-cut pack contains the same Sure Fuse Firm woven fusible interfacing that has become a favourite among bag makers wanting extra structure and stability in their projects.
Made from 100% cotton woven fabric, Sure Fuse Firm adds body, support and structure while still maintaining a beautiful fabric feel without excessive bulk.
At 150gsm, it is heavier and firmer than Sure Fuse Medium, G700 and SF101 interfacing, making it ideal when you want a firmer, more structured finished result.
The gallery images shared in this listing show examples of how Sure Fuse Firm looks when fused to quilting fabrics and the structure it can achieve in finished bag making projects.
Perfect for Structured Bag Making Projects
Sure Fuse Firm is beautiful to work with when making:
- Structured handbags and totes
- Bag exteriors
- Bag bases and panels
- Structured crossbody bags
- Wallets and purses
- Structured quilting cotton bags
- Home décor sewing projects
Because it is woven, it handles and presses more naturally than many heavier non-woven stabilisers while still providing the structure and support needed for more structured bags.
How to Apply Sure Fuse Woven Fusible Interfacing
Sure Fuse Firm is easy to apply and creates a strong bond when pressed correctly.
As a professional bag maker, this is the same interfacing I personally use when I want extra structure and stability in my projects.
Using a Heat Press
I recommend using a cotton heat setting (approximately 180°C) and pressing for around 15 seconds.
Using an Iron
Use a cotton heat setting and press each section for approximately 15 seconds to allow the adhesive to properly bond to the fabric.
TIP: Press and hold the iron in place rather than moving it around like traditional ironing.
Pressing means lifting the iron, placing it onto the section being fused, holding it in place for approximately 15 seconds, then lifting and moving to the next section.
Important Testing Recommendation
Always do a test press using a scrap piece of the fabric or material you plan to use before applying interfacing to your final project.
This allows you to test the heat and pressing time to achieve the best possible results for your chosen fabric.
Applying to Vinyl Faux Leather and Specialty Fabrics
When applying interfacing to vinyl faux leather, leather or specialty fabrics, place the material with the wrong side facing up and position the interfacing adhesive side down on top.
This allows the heat source to be closest to the interfacing adhesive, helping it fuse more effectively and evenly.
Sure Fuse Medium vs Sure Fuse Firm
Choosing between Sure Fuse Medium and Sure Fuse Firm depends on the type of structure you want your finished project to have.
