Swivel Clips 25mm Rainbow for Detachable Bag Straps
These Rainbow Swivel Clips connect the ends of a 25mm (1″) bag strap to attachment rings on your bag. They are useful for crossbody bags, shoulder bags and totes when you want to remove or change the strap.
How the Clip Works
Attach your strap around the straight side of the strap loop. The swivel joint allows the clip end to rotate as the strap moves, helping you reposition a twisted strap. Press the spring gate to open the clip, place it around a suitable attachment ring, then release it and check that the gate closes fully.
Choose Matching Strap Hardware
Pair these clips with D Rings 25mm Rainbow. The 25mm size refers to the inside width of the strap loop, which fits a 25mm finished strap, rather than the clip gate opening: check that the ring fits inside the clip and lets the gate close freely. Add Adjustable Strap Sliders 25mm Rainbow if you want to adjust the strap length.
Choose 25mm webbing, or make a 25mm finished strap from fabric or vinyl faux leather. Check the thickness of the folded strap at the loop before securing it.
Attach the Strap
- Thread the strap end through the clip’s strap loop.
- Fold the end back, allowing the overlap required by your pattern.
- Secure it with suitable stitching or correctly sized Double Cap Rivets, according to your strap construction.
- Check that the attachment holds securely and the swivel and gate move freely.
For an adjustable strap, follow your pattern’s threading sequence before permanently securing the ends.
Helpful Tip from Chris
Lay out both clips, your slider and the strap before fastening anything. Check the direction of the clips and keep the strap flat so you don’t secure a twist into the finished strap.
