Vlieseline Thermolam 272 is a dense, sew in polyester wadding that adds soft structure, stability and useful insulation without creating excessive bulk.
At 180gsm, Thermolam has a compact, internally bonded construction that remains soft and easy to sew while giving your project more body. For bag makers, it is a useful option when you want a supportive layer that feels denser and flatter than a lofty, puffy wadding.

How to Use Thermolam 272
Thermolam is a sew in wadding, so there is no adhesive to fuse.
- Cut Thermolam to suit your project pieces.
- Position it underneath your fabric.
- Secure the layers as needed for your project.
- Sew or quilt the layers together by hand or machine.
Vlieseline recommends quilting or stitching approximately 15–20cm apart.

If you’re choosing wadding for a bag, don’t look at loft alone. Thermolam’s strength is its dense, compact construction. It can add body and support while keeping the finished project flatter than a soft high-loft wadding.
For the best result, make a small test sample using your actual exterior fabric and Thermolam before cutting your complete project. Quilt or sew the sample as you intend to construct the finished bag so you can see exactly how much structure, softness and thickness the combination creates.
