Using Quilting Cotton for Bag Making

Quilting cotton is ideal for bag linings, pockets, bindings and other areas where you want a lighter fabric with beautiful colour and a comfortable feel.

It can also be used for quilted exterior panels when paired with a suitable interfacing or wadding to provide the amount of body required by your pattern.

For additional structure, pair it with Sure Fuse MEDIUM Cotton Woven Fusible Interfacing.

For softly padded panels, add Birch Light Iron On Wadding or another suitable fleece. If you want a firmer, bouncier structure that helps the bag hold its shape, explore our bag foam.

Easy to Coordinate Across Your Project

How to Order Your Fabric

• Quantity 1 = 50cm
• Quantity 2 = 1 metre
• Quantity 3 = 1.5 metres
• Quantity 4 = 2 metres
• Quantity 5 = 2.5 metres

When you order more than one unit, your fabric will be cut as one continuous length wherever possible.

If your finished project will be regularly washed, consider prewashing your fabric before cutting. Wash and dry it in the same way you expect to care for the finished project.

When using quilting cotton for bag exteriors or structured panels, choose an interfacing or wadding that provides the amount of body required by your pattern.
