Description
Hemline Magnetic Fabric Grips for Bag Making, Quilting and Sewing Projects
Hemline Magnetic Fabric Grips provide a clever pin-free and clip-free way to hold materials securely together while you sew.
Using strong internal magnets, these reusable grips help keep layers aligned without leaving pin holes or marks behind, making them ideal for bag making applications where traditional sewing clips may not be able to reach.
Their slim, low-profile design sits flat against your project and is particularly useful when working inside bags where space is limited.
Unlike sewing pins, these grips won’t leave holes in your materials and are easy to reposition as you work.

A Handy Alternative to Sewing Pins
Many bag makers prefer alternatives to traditional sewing pins when working with thicker materials or fabrics that could be damaged by pin holes.
These magnetic grips are especially useful when working with:
- Vinyl faux leather
- Genuine leather
- Waterproof canvas
- Webbing
- Multiple layers of interfacing
- Bag foam
- Paper crafting and English Paper Piecing (EPP)
Stay Organised During Bag Construction
One of my favourite uses for magnetic fabric grips is temporarily holding pockets, straps and other bag components in place while checking positioning before sewing.
They’re particularly handy when working inside bags where larger sewing clips may not fit, allowing you to secure pieces exactly where you need them while keeping both hands free to work.

Choosing the Right Sewing Clips
Different sewing clips are useful for different sewing jobs, and many bag makers like to keep more than one style in their sewing room. If you’re unsure which sewing clips are best for your projects, be sure to read my Ultimate Guide to Sewing Clips for Bag Making, where I explain the different clip styles and how I use them when making bags.
- Standard sewing clips are great everyday clips for holding fabric layers, seams, binding and small sewing sections.
- Long sewing clips provide extra reach and are especially handy for wider straps, bulky layers and larger bag making projects.
- Wide mouth sewing clips are designed to accommodate thicker projects as the wider opening allows them to grip thicker sections that may be difficult for standard clips to hold.
- Metal and pointed sewing clips are helpful for smaller areas, curves, corners and more detailed sewing jobs.
- Magnetic sewing clips / Fabric Grips are particularly useful when working inside bags, helping to hold pockets, straps and other components securely in place where larger sewing clips may not fit.
Having a few different clip types and sizes gives you more flexibility when sewing different styles of bags, accessories and quilting projects.
